An electric muscle car seems like an oxymoron project, but that is exactly what Charge is doing. This British company is taking the iconic red-blooded American 1967 Mustang design and converting it for the 21st century.
Driving one of these down the road you have to get ready to expose yourself to the inevitable poser chant from the muscle car faithful. As it seems to go back on the original spirit, powerful, loud and carefree.
But Mustang is also a car that makes sense for the electric conversion. The big body allows designers to put in the necessary electric component.
The company promised it would be fast with a max speed of 149MPH and nought-to-60 under 4 seconds. You will have the option to switch between the classic rare wheel drive mode and an all-wheel-drive mode.
Like its classical predecessor, the electric Mustang will take more energy than its contemporaries. One full charge would last around 200 miles.
It is not a car for everyone. Charge will only make 499 of these. You can reserve it now from $377,000.
