Casio, renowned for its rugged G-Shock line and pioneering digital watches, has redefined wearable tech with the launch of the CRW-001-1JR. This unconventional ring-shaped digital watch is more than a timepiece—it’s a bold statement of creativity, commemorating Casio’s 50th anniversary in watchmaking.
Constructed from stainless steel using Metal Injection Molding (MIM) technology, the CRW-001-1JR is both robust and compact. Measuring just 25.2 x 19.5 x 6.2 mm and weighing only 16 grams, it’s about one-tenth the size of a traditional wristwatch and designed for finger wear. Adjustable spacers ensure compatibility with various ring sizes, emphasizing Casio’s focus on inclusivity.
The sleek design is complemented by impressive functionality. The watch features dual time zones, a stopwatch, and an auto-calendar, all displayed on a bright LED-backlit screen. With practical touches like water resistance and a two-year battery life, the CRW-001-1JR is as functional as it is stylish.
In a market dominated by smartwatches and fitness trackers, Casio’s ring watch takes a different path. Rather than syncing with smartphones or tracking health metrics, it focuses on essentials—timekeeping and minimalist functionality—delivered in a design that challenges traditional wearables.
Initially expected to be a Japan-exclusive, the CRW-001-1JR will also launch in the U.S., according to a new listing on Casio’s U.S. website. Preorders have yet to open, but the device is slated for a December release at $120.
