Redmi, the sub-brand of Xiaomi, has just unveiled its latest charging technology, the 300W Supercharger, setting another world record. This impressive technology can fully charge a 4100 mAh battery in just 5 minutes and achieve a 50% charge in just 2 minutes. For a 10% charge, it takes just 43 seconds. The technology was tested with the Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition. However, it should be noted that the maximum load capacity of the Type-C interface is 240W according to an earlier industry statement, thus this speed can only be realized with a special modification interface.
Redmi states that the charger has a peak power of 290W, maintaining a power output of more than 280W for up to 2 minutes to quickly charge the phone to 50%. The technology uses a proprietary 300W fast charging architecture with a full interconnect that integrates a customized 6:2 charge pump chip into the device’s original charging architecture. This chip has an impressive 98% maximum conversion efficiency.
Redmi’s 300W Supercharger uses a unique “sandwich” stack design where the ultra-thin top and bottom batteries are in direct contact with a phase change heat dissipation material filled in the middle. This material allows for rapid absorption and dissipation of heat, effectively lowering the temperature during fast charging. In addition, the 300-watt charger features large-area graphene for improved heat dissipation, as well as dual heat dissipation combined with adhesive filling and even heat distribution. These measures ensure exceptional power output without overheating.
Redmi also claims to place the highest priority on safety, and the 300-watt charger has more than 50 safety features. For example, each charge pump in the charging architecture has independent input overvoltage, overcurrent, overtemperature, and output overvoltage protection, while the battery PCM is equipped with five additional hardware protections that go beyond conventional industry solutions to ensure the safety of the power supply.
