Nothing CEO, former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei announced the Nothing Phone (1) at an event Wednesday. The startup’s first phone will be powered by the company’s own Nothing OS. Nothing plans to launch a Nothing Phone (1) with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset in the summer of 2022.

The Nothing Phone (1) is the company’s second product after the Nothing Ear (1). While the specifications of the Nothing Phone 1 are still secret, we assume that the design philosophy is similar to the company’s TWS Earphones.

After raising $144 million, building a team of more than 300 employees, and getting support from a trusted partner like Qualcomm Technologies, Carl Pei says he is ready to wake up and change the sleeping smartphone market with Phone (1).

Nothing OS is built on an open and seamless ecosystem that connects and integrates Nothing products and products from other leading global brands. Nothing OS provides the key feature of pure Android and refines the original system into an elite version so that “every byte has its role.”

According to Pei, Nothing OS is tailored to provide a fast and personalized experience where hardware and software are seamlessly integrated thanks to custom fonts, colors, graphic elements, and sounds. The first preview of Nothing OS will be available on select smartphone models via the launcher starting in April.
