Samsung will unveil the new Galaxy S22 series on February 9. There will be three different versions of the phone, with the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra being the absolute top model. The rumor mill has already disappointed many expectations for the new phones, and several pictures have leaked that supposedly show what they will look like.
One of the things that seem exciting is the screen that the Ultra model might get. For instance, it is said to be a 6.8-inch display that will deliver the full brightness of 1750 nits. It is also supposed to have a so-called QHD resolution and be able to process up to 120 frames per second, which means that the screen will offer a great gaming experience.
Although they are a bit smaller than similar versions of the S21, the two smaller models have a decent display too. If the leaked information is correct, the Plus model will be 6.5 inches and have full HD, while the screen of the regular version will be 6.06 inches with the same resolution. For comparison, corresponding versions of the S21 have 6.7 and 6.2-inch screens. The screens of the two new S22 models offer 120 frames per second and have a maximum brightness of 1300 nits. This means that neither of these phones will have a problem providing you with a legible screen, even if sunbathing.
There are also rumors regarding the cameras built into the different models of the S22. Here Ice Universe, another rumormonger who tends to be accurate, posted the following specs via Twitter late last year. If these are correct, the Ultra model will have a main camera of 108 megapixels, with the smallest aperture being 1.8, as well as image stabilization. You will also have the option of 10x zoom, as well as ultra-wide angle. The two smaller models, S22+ and S22, also have a main camera with 50 megapixels and the same smaller aperture as well as image stabilization. They have a 3x zoom and an ultra-wide-angle in addition to the main camera.
There are several rumors regarding the prices. One of them is by Chunvn8888, who through his account on Twitter believes that the S22 will be priced as follows:
Samsung Galaxy S22: Starting at $899
Samsung Galaxy S22+: Starting at $1099
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra: Starting at $1299
Most recently, there were rumors last week from technology analyst Jon Prosser that there would likely be delays to the new top-of-the-line series. Via Twitter, Prosser posted a message claiming that you’ll have to wait until February 25 before you can get your hands on the Ultra model. If you prefer the S22+ or S22 you’ll have to be even more patient, as they reportedly will not be available until March 11.
I am personally very much looking forward to the Samsung event tomorrow, it’s probably the time to upgrade my Samsung. Sadly the processors in Galaxy S21 haven’t been very well-reviewed, but the S22 series should be much better.
