OGarden is an indoor micro farm that allows people in the city to grow 90 types of plants simultaneously. It has a regulated automatic watering and lighting system that you could put on autopilot. You can expect a full harvest in a month.
A family of four spends an average of $850 per month on groceries, according to a study by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. OGarden said families could save up to 80 percent on groceries by growing their own crops at home.
The indoor garden can grow vegetables, fruits, and herbs in a controlled environment. A 120W LED in the middle of the growing wheel provides ‘sunlight’ for the plants.
It has 60 planting slots in the rotating upper barrel. Additionally, it has an incubator that can hold up to 30 sprouting plants in the cabinet below.
To start the planting, users need to place the seeds in the seed cups along with soil and fertilizer. It takes about three weeks for the plant to sprout before the plants are ready to be transferred to the rotating growing wheel.
OGarden sells a variety of plant seeds including peppermint, green onion, strawberries, kale. For those looking to grow something different, you can purchase a bag of virgin earth and plant the seeds on your own.
OGarden Smart retails at $769. The company promises to deliver the first batch of products in June 2019.
