Citroen’s luxury marque DS Automobiles unveiled what a supercar might look like in 2035. The designer packed DS X E-Tense with futuristic design concepts an asymmetrical front, a panel light web for the headlight, an isolated driver cockpit, and a Formula E engine.
The car was a co-development of DS design team and DS’s Virgin Formula E team. According to DS, the supercar has 1360 horsepower when the driver switches to track mode.
Thierry Metroz, DS design director, said the design was inspired by motorcycle sidecar.
The independent open-top cockpit gives the driver a Formula car-like driving experience.
The DS X E-Tense car the company showed the media, uses carbon fiber for the body. DS designers are working on a memory alloy that could return to its original shape after an impact.
Instead of a dedicated headlight, DS E Tense uses a web-shape lighting panel as its headlight. DS dubbed light veil lets the driver customized the brightness.
On the passenger side, DS said the car could fit two people in, but it will definitely get crowded judging from the photo.
However, the see-through glass floor will make up for a less comfortable experience.
The steering wheel is made from leather, wood, and metal. DS embedded the steering with a pearl pattern with two-tone Millennium Blue and Navy Blue Aniline leather finishes.
According to DS, the concept car might only arrive in 2035.
