This frame bends reality as you know it
You are probably familiar with the old saying that “seeing is believing.” That being said, have you ever seen something completely unbelievable that made you question if what you were seeing was real.
With Slow Dance, a picture frame that makes real objects appear to move in slow motion, you will not believe your eyes every single time you look at the frame.
By playing off of the limits of human visual perception, Slow Dance creates an optical illusion that will leave you doubting reality.
The product looks like a normal picture frame, however, there is no picture or glass. Within the frame are two clips that hold any small objects in place. These objects can be feathers, flowers, weeds, or any other small lightweight object.
Once you turn the frame on, the real magic begins… The frame has a variety of modes that bend reality via optical illusion. For example, the different modes allow you to cycle between numerous movements including slow and smooth and others that make the object appear as if it is jumping.
The frame works by using high-speed strobe lights that blink at a rate of 80 times a second. At this speed, the human eye cannot process that the light is blinking. The clips that hold the small objects vibrated at a rate that synchronizes with the strobes. As a result, the illusion of slow-motion movement is created.
According to the creators of the optical illusion frame, they wish to combine “technology, science, and art, in order to remind us of the natural mystery, beauty, and wonder that surround us every day.”
The creators certainly achieved their goal in creating this whimsical, mind-boggling novelty.
