These shoes make it possible to walk and run in VR games
Virtual reality technology has transformed video gaming by allowing players to completely immerse themselves into a game’s reality. Until now, virtual reality gaming has been limited in the sense that players could not control their avatar’s movement via their own footsteps.
With the release of an innovative VR accessory called Cybershoes, you can literally walk and run through whatever virtual gaming universe you desire.
To use Cybershoes, you simply strap them directly onto your feet and sit in a swivel bar stool.
When the shoes are attached to your feet, your in-game avatar or character’s movement is controlled by your own physical movement. By walking in place suspended slightly above the ground in the swivel chair, you perceive that you are directly controlling your character as you navigate through the virtual world.
The developers of this innovative virtual reality accessory designed the shoes to be compatible with any VR game. In addition, the shoes function with SteamVR, the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Pimax, and Windows Mixed Reality platforms.
In addition to the obvious benefits of controlling your gameplay with your own movement, Cybershoes allow you to exercise while you play video games! That being said, these are no substitute for actual walking and running – however, they will help you remain active and are a solid way to keep active with low impact and stress on your body.
Along with their gaming function, Cybershoes are also used in industrial facilities for training and planning. They also have applications in the medical field and are utilized in physical therapy contexts and in elderly homes.
The shoes are currently available for pre-order on Kickstarter for about $200.
