McDonald's Alexa

McDonald’s recently announced a new plan to use smart home speakers to interview new workers.

The mega restaurant chain calls the new feature the “McDonald’s Apply Thru.”

“We must continue to innovate and think of creative, and in this case, groundbreaking ways to meet potential job seekers on devices they are already using, like Alexa,” said McDonald’s Executive Vice President & Chief People Officer David Fairhurst.

Currently, the feature is available on Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. If you are in the U.S, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain or the U.K, you can trigger an interview process by asking your smart home assist “help me get a job at McDonald’s.”

Alexa or Google Assistant would start the initial interview, including asking basic questions like the names of the applicants, job area and interest of location.

If the applicant passed the interview, the system will notify the candidate via text messages.
