Tesla’s dog mode will keep your pets comfortable in the car
According to the American Veterinary Association, hundreds of pets die each year in the U.S. as the result of heat exhaustion because they are left unattended in vehicles.
This is an extremely unfortunate fact, but fortunately something can be done to stop this horrifying occurrence from happening…
The solution is Dog Mode. But what exactly is Dog Mode? Well, Dog Mode is a solution for drivers offered by Tesla Motors that controls the temperature of the vehicle’s cabin when the dog’s owner is running quick errands and leaves them in the car.
In addition to controlling the temperature of the vehicle’s cabin, Dog Mode also displays a message to passers-by that lets them know that the owner is aware that the animals are left in the car and comfortable.
The display also mentions the interior temperature of the vehicle and notes that the owner will return soon.
To activate this ingenious feature, users simply navigate to the car’s climate control menu and press the Dog Mode option.
Dog Mode is essentially an upgraded version of Tesla’s 2016 released Cabin Overheat Protection mode.
Obviously, Dog Mode is no excuse for leaving your pets in the car for hours at a time and common sense should always be practiced.
In addition, it is important to note that children should never be left unattended in a vehicle, and that it is not Tesla’s intention for drivers to use this for anything other than pets while you run quick (we stress quick) errands.
Keeping your pets safe and comfortable is of utmost importance, and Tesla’s Dog Mode feature can certainly help in doing so.
